Art sat on the edge of one of the tops of the cliffs. Hands clasped tightly together, he looked down into the dark, shadowed mist below him. A slow, soft breath escaped his lips, a sigh, dreary and heavy like the awful feeling clinging and clutching to his chest. Slowly he kneeled, sitting on the rocks edge, the weight in the pit of his stomach too much for him to bear. This was it.
Below him lay the ruins of... Something. Fake gems were made here. That's all he knew. But even with that limited knowledge, the overall atmosphere of what happened here made his stomach churn. He lifted his pale, shakey hand, sighing, slowly brushing some of his bright hair away from his sorrowful eyes. His legs dangled for a moment before he pushed himself forward and off the cliff.
Down, down he fell, bracing himself for impact. Shpoof! Art landed in a puff of dust, coughing as it cleared. Sniffing, he examined the area. It was... Quiet. Slowly he stepped forward. He kicked aside a few pebbles, his hand against the cliffside, putting his weight against it. It was just as it had been, the machines from Homeworld lying around. He had been here to try and fix this. But now that he had gotten up the guts to come explore, he felt sick. He wasn't sure where to start.
The canyon was dark, and looming. The earth's sun was setting over the horizon, the moon beginning to peek up and over is if awakened from it's slumber. Art looked around, before pursing his lips. One long, lonely whistle echoed over the area, bouncing off the walls until it faded.
He was alone here... Right?

This really wasn't her kind of job, sure, she had all the qualifications to do it but... Earth? Really? This miserable place? As if it wasn't dangerous alone to travel into this sort of territory- What use could Homeworld possibly have of this place anymore? From what it'd seen, the gems made in this place were usually... Somewhat unstable, but then again, she hadn't met too many. But what could you expect from gems made solely to fight? She hadn't even been part of the war, she was a technician, officer, tactician- They offered her a spot on the front but she didn't see the point, at the time she was sure Homeworld would crush the rebellion. That didn't happen, and strangely enough- She didn't care much. Homeworld kept functioning as it used to, more or less. Technology had evolved since then, obviously, 5000 years is enough time for that.
Yet there Bloodstone was, it had been a tedious process, getting here. She had been assigned to this mission because she was cunning, technically knowing to gather the necessary information- She could travel quietly and unseen and could probably hold her own in case of emergency. Bloodstone had to use a small spacecraft to land on Earth and do checks on Kindergarten, as well as gather information on how many gems were left on the planet, both from Kindergarten and Homeworld. She had landed near the coast, then she had to find a warp pad, but knowing that if it was still functional, she couldn't use it the normal way, because then she'd likely be taken to... Well likely not a good place- She had to spend quite a while hacking and re-routing the warp pad so that it'd connect with a pad as close to Kindergarten as possible, and even then it'd only be for one trip. She REALLY hoped the kindergarten warp was still intact, else she might get gravely misplaced on Earth and she really didn't need that.
They released a sigh of relief when the warp brought her right into Kindergarten, oh thank the diamonds. She glanced to the sky and squinted, it had taken a while getting here, but she could use her gem for lighting her way if it got too dark. Looking around though, she must have forgotten how huge this place actually was, even if the mist made it hard to see, a quick removal of her visors and she got a good look of the farther cliff sides. They were lined with holes, as should be. Better get started... She started off with checking machines, connecting to the machine and waiting as information rolled up on her visors in front of her eyes. Medieval machinery! She sighed and switched to a hologram from her gem to start poking around in the machine's programming.
Shpoof!
Bloodstone froze on the spot, staring at the holoscreen. Shit.
A human? Gem? Animal? Her first thought was to transform into a spider about 4 feet in width and climbing up the machine silently, peeking around the corner. She heard a whistle and that alerted her to the source of the sound and... That was a gem. Eight spidery eyes squinted before pondering on what to do, it'd be better to not be seen. She'd rather not fight. She kept well hidden, but wanted to keep tabs on where this gem walked.

5,000 years stuck in a hole sure gets boring. Alabaster should know, he was sitting in one. It smelled wet, but he'd gotten used to it. The gem had barely left the small enclave for centuries. Huh, maybe today he should get out and stretch. He pushed himself out of the hole slowly, blinking all four of his eyes as he slid on his glasses. He dropped to the ground far below, causing a small thump to be heard. Oh well, not like anyone was here.
Damn, it felt good to be out of that thing. He stretched his arms up towards the barely visible sky, then bent down to touch his toes. Tworof his eyes continuously searched around for threats, whilst the others stayed shut. He kicked his legs out, hearing his knees pop before he started walking around. He turned a corner and saw a figure. He just kept a surprised noise in before pulling out his sickles and hiding. His stance was defensive, but he didn't know if he'd win this fight, he hadn't encountered anyone worth fighting in thousands of years. His skills may be a lttle rusty.
He slowly got himself to a vantage point above the stranger before squatting down and just watching them.
